Island Holiday - Part 1

We've spent the last week on Hamilton Island, so my will to blog quite literally drifted away. But I'm back now with some pics of the Yacht Club Villas where we stayed.
There's not much I can say to add to these pics, except to say it was actually perfect.
Well, I'll say a few things. The interiors had a tropical vibe (which I love) with lots of furniture from Coco Republic. But the thing that stood out for me was the joinery. The cupboards in the kitchen were laminate with wood trim. The walk-in-robes had interior lighting. And there was none of the white melamine that lines most cupboards. Instead, the inside was all lovely wood grain. The attention to detail was amazing.
There are 34 villas in total. The landscaping is by Jamie Durie and is maintained by an army of gardeners. The villas have a view of the ocean, other islands and the Yacht Club itself (pictured below).

The Yacht Club is out of this world. It's roof line is shaped like sails so it reminds me of the Sydney Opera House. Except here, the roof is made of copper. It was built by entrepreneur Bob Oately. The Yacht Club is home to the Bommie Restaurant and the Bommie Bar. As you would expect, we tried both. Five stars from us. We particularly liked the Bar, as you can sit on the outside deck and watch the yachts, tinnies, jet ski's and catamarans pass by. As I type this I'm thinking that it sounds too good to be true. But it is true.

It all looks heavenly, and so far removed from reality. What a beautiful holiday destination. I need a holiday or three this year. It's a promise I made to myself after the two reno's. Time now for R&R. x

Those are some pretty stunning spots you posted. As impossibly long as it already is, my places to go list has just grown longer.

About Spots and Stripes

When I began my third renovation, I swapped the corporate ladder for the rusty paint ladder and began my website and blog, Spots and Stripes, which chronicles the restoration of our 'Queenslander' in Brisbane. I'm also an interior editor helping clients to create a home which is not modern, nor traditional, rather it's interesting. For a home that is unlike any other, I can assist with the selection of lights, tiles, mirrors, wallpaper, paint, furniture and fabric.
