Vintage - How To

When I survey my bookshelves it's clear that I like 'how to' books. Whether it's a 'Spreadsheets for Dummies', the A.W.W guide to 'Baking Children's Cakes', Erkhart Tolle's 'Living in the Now' or a rather strangely titled book, 'Getting to Yes' (from my days as a law student).
So I'm very pleased to add another 'how to' book to my collection. It's called 'New Vintage' by Tahn Scoon. The book is packed to the brim with how-to projects (including how to create your own buttoned bed head) as well as handy hints on creating an inviting home (such as starting a kitchen garden).
The book is not only very practical, it could double as a coffee table book as the photography is beautiful. Here's Tahn signing a copy of her book tonight at interiors shop, "Les Salles", in Paddington.
It was my first time at Les Salles. It's an interior design shop packed to the brim with lovely vintage items like these framed keys (above) and this reupholstered chair and ottoman (below).

They also have an extensive collection of fabulous lights (first photo above). It was the perfect venue to launch Tahn's new book.

I'm also a big book fan. I've noticed many bloggers are, which makes sense. Tahn's book looks very interesting!

About Spots and Stripes

When I began my third renovation, I swapped the corporate ladder for the rusty paint ladder and began my website and blog, Spots and Stripes, which chronicles the restoration of our 'Queenslander' in Brisbane. I'm also an interior editor helping clients to create a customised home. Let me know if I assist you with the selection of lights, tiles, mirrors, wallpaper, paint, furniture and fabric.
