The Block - Kitchen and Dining

Building or renovating a kitchen is no small feat. There's at least a hundred decisions to be made on everything from lighting to benchtops to furniture. Josh and Jenna won this week by making great choices. They continued their cool vintage vibe with an oversize pendant light (from Ambience Lighting) and vintage poster (from Expressions Gallery). But they added a modern edge with a luxurious wood table to seat eight and replica Eames Eiffel chairs.
These two are fond of classic chairs as they chose galvanised stools in the kitchen (see picture above) and an Eames style chair in the lounge. Now that all the interior is complete, we can see that Josh and Jenna's house is super stylish with the vintage accents providing depth and character.
Katrina and Amie also delivered a great kitchen and dining area (picture above). I particularly liked the lights (from Mark Tuckey) above the dining table. The other thing I really like about their living area is the recessed TV with open shelving on either side. It looks fabulous.
Rod and Tania delivered a glitzy, hotel style kitchen with black cabinetry and black glass splash back (picture above). There's no dining table, just the breakfast bar. Call me old fashioned, but I like a dining table. A few people have asked why I don't generally comment on Polly and Waz's rooms. Well, they're a cute couple but I think they need an interior designer on the payroll as well as their builder.

I agree with that last comment - although I did like their acid wash brick wall very much. xx

So true. I think the brick wall is the best thing they've done in the whole house! I liked the little alcoves for candles. Amber

Bahahaha! I was just reading this post and thinking about how you didn't write about Wally and Poz. Definately agree re:the designer. They just don't seem to be creative people to me. I'm sure they are lovely people, but they don't strike me as people that think outside the box much.

It's so funny to think that Polly and Waz won the Block. But c'est la vie!
