Home Beautiful Cover
I'm very excited that our beach house has been featured in this month's Home Beautiful magazine, it even made the cover! Many of you will remember seeing snippets of the beach house as it was renovated on the blog (see below). This is the second renovation that Mr Not-So-Handy and I have undertaken and we're thrilled with the results. When we bought the beach house, the interior and exterior were painted avocado! Now the exterior is a soothing sandy colour and the inside is painted white. The worn old carpet and dated tiles were removed to reveal lovely floor boards which we stained chocolate. The cathedral ceilings provide height to the living room but the pine has been banished under layers of cool white paint. And the peach coloured laminex in the kitchen has been replaced with stone tiles (no maintenance required). One bathroom was originally blue and the other avocado with gold taps! Both have been given a total makeover with gorgeous stone tiles which look expensive (but were actually very reasonable) and satin tapware. Plantation shutters provide that relaxed beach house vibe and keep out the morning sun. I can't wait to show you some more photos over the week. (Then I better start the next renovation project, a Grand Old Queenslander, circa 1900).
About Spots and Stripes
When I began my third renovation, I swapped the corporate ladder for the rusty paint ladder and began my website and blog, Spots and Stripes, which chronicles the restoration of our 'Queenslander' in Brisbane. I'm also an interior editor helping clients to create a home which is not modern, nor traditional, rather it's interesting. For a home that is unlike any other, I can assist with the selection of lights, tiles, mirrors, wallpaper, paint, furniture and fabric.

Hi Keren, I had mine restored on the Gold Coast a while ago. I can find the details if you would them. Amber
I have to hand it to you, albeit late. All that hard work sure paid off. How's the beach house doing these days?
I have to say that the information here was the most complete that I found anywhere. I am definitely bookmarking this to come back and express later.
