Beach House - Part 1

The rain has never been this relentless before. Mr Not-So-Handy has battened down the hatches. I don't know how it's all going to end. But the experts seem to think that the flood levels will be greater than the historical flood of 1974. My Nan lived in Bulimba in a second floor unit during that flood. The water reached her balcony on the second level. So with my fingers and toes crossed, I'm doing this post on the beach house, mainly to cheer myself up. The first photo is the loungeroom downstairs. I had the chairs lacquered in vibrant green. To add some spark, I had the tables lacquered in a acqua.
The fabric is a pineapple fabric that I bought from the States.

Our Westhighland Terrier, Coco Rhubarb, is making herself at home on the guest bed! The bedhead is actually a screen which I bought at Coco Republic.
This is a corner of the office. You can see the Manuel Canovas wallpaper behind my pineapple lamp. The plantation shutters were a really worthwhile investment. We're thinking of our friends and family throughout Queensland today particularly, those of you in Brisy and Toowoomba.

Hi Jenny, the furniture was lacquered on the Sunshine Coast. I'm enjoying reading your blog by the way. Amber

Looks gorgeous. Completely a look i appreciate. Cane is a fetish of mine. Can't get enough. Like your screen behind the bed. I have some old wrought iton gates waiting to be cleaned to use as a bed head in our main bedroom. I've been pondering colour vs rustic for months though. Not sure if it's the light on your screen or it's a little worn? All looks really gorgeous.

Hi E.A.P, there's something elegant about cane, isn't there? The screen is actually a new one from Coco Republic. The iron gates would look beautiful as a bed head, I can't wait to see the transformation. Amber

I have the same manila cane furniture minus the table. I'd like to do mine up but not sure how to go about it. Still in wonderful nick but would need sanding back and lacquering. Can you suggest which products I should use.
Love what you've done with your beach house.

Hi Kirsten, I had mine done professionally, so I can't give you any details. Sorry about that. Amber
