Best Interiors of 2010 - Bathrooms

Sometimes bathrooms can lack personality. I suppose because it's one of the hardest working rooms in the house, function often trumps form. But it doesn't have to be this way. Bathrooms can be practical and chic, just like this first bathroom on my best bathrooms of 2010 list.
This bathroom is from Nate Berkus. I like how the room is centred around the window. I like the symmetry of the lamps and towel rails either side of the bath. The bath itself looks big enough for an elephant which is fabulous and the tapware is traditional, which I really like. In this traditional style bathroom the mosaic tile floor also works well. As for the chandelier, well, I would have used something a bit modern. Overall, I love it.
If you dream of a glam bathroom, then check out Goop's (Gwyneth Paltrow's). The signature piece in this bathroom is the mirror. To inject a lot of personality into a bathroom just add a fabulous mirror. And the black Kelly Wearstler wallpaper certainly ups the glam factor too.
Now for a kids bathroom. If you have the luxury of giving the kids their own bathroom, then this one is a perfect template. This one looks great because of the tongue and groove walls, the antique-looking towel rack and the splash of orange on the mirror and bin. I've never seen a pedestal basis that I didn't love, so for me this bathroom is just right.
This bathroom looks very calming. The white and pale grey paintwork looks fabulous. And it has my favourite accessories, a pedestal basin and tongue and groove walls. To add some personality, why not have some framed pictures in the bathroom? I once read that at the Kennedy family compound in the US, they had framed letters from people like Henry Kissinger and Nikita Khrushchev in the loo. Makes for interesting conversation. But it's hard to do if you're like Warnie and just send text messages all the time, maybe he has framed copies of Liz Hurley's magazine covers in his loo instead!
