Grand Houses - Greylands

As my readers know, I love taking a sticky beak around grand houses and today's grand house is one of the best. It's called Greylands and is located at Indooroopilly in Brisbane. This old dame has got everything you'd expect from a grand house, including marble fireplaces, ornate cornices, cedar joinery and a servants quarters (referred to today as the Nanny's quarters). But it's also got that je ne sais quoi, that gives it an extra spark. It's the type of house that needs lots of people coming and going, to garden parties, to round robin tennis (yes there's a court at the back) and to picnics (with 1 & 1/4 acres there's plenty of space). The house is quite clearly a party house and is in need of new owners who like to entertain. If that's you (actually I think it could be me), read more here.

About Spots and Stripes

When I began my third renovation, I swapped the corporate ladder for the rusty paint ladder and began my website and blog, Spots and Stripes, which chronicles the restoration of our 'Queenslander' in Brisbane. I'm also an interior editor helping clients to create a home which is not modern, nor traditional, rather it's interesting. For a home that is unlike any other, I can assist with the selection of lights, tiles, mirrors, wallpaper, paint, furniture and fabric.
